Lances and Spears

Fighting long ago, before the advent of guns, was typically conducted with bow and arrow or a lance.   Using a lance or spear caused a warrior to be close to his adversary for counting coup.  This Crow lance came from the Brundl collection in Germany.

This spear was captured in war or was a trade item.  Its point has red color added.  At the base of the shaft are carved buffalo hoofs with horse hair.
